SOCIOLOGY I SYLLABUS
Course Description: This course provides the students with a general overview of the discipline of sociology. Sociology is one of the social sciences that deal with people and their activities in the social group. It is concerned with the way the group shapes children to fit group life, with the unique behavior of different groups, and with the problems which arise when people live together in groups. Sociology I will focus on three main areas: (1) the differences of cultures and how our social structure is made, (2) how the individual fits into society, and (3) how social inequalities affect society.
Grading Information: Grades will be taken from homework assignments, quizzes, tests and projects. Grades will be based on total points. There will be a quiz at the end of each chapter and a test at the end of each unit. (Grading may change at teacher’s discretion.) Students and parents are encouraged to view the student’s progress through the use of our schools grading program. Grades will be updated regularly.
